Indications:
Orthostatic Hypotension
Neurogenic Hypotension
Intradialytic Hypotension (IDH)
Dosage & Administration:
MidoTab a prodrug that is rapidly absorbed and transformed into the active metabolite desglymidodrine, which is a selective Alpha-1 adrenergic agonist.
In IDH administers 2.5 to 10mg 15 t0 30 min before dialysis. A second smaller dose can be given halfway through the treatment.
It has high bioavailability, with peak serum levels occurring at 60 minutes, and it is removed by haemodialysis (Half-life is 3 hours on haemodialysis); therefore, the drug effect dose not persist long in the postdialytic period.
Contraindication:
MidoTab is contraindicated in patients with severe organic heart disease, congestive heart failure, thyrotoxicosis, phaeochromocytoma, acute renal disease, severe renal insufficiency, urinary retention, narrow angle glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, known hypersensitivity to any component of the product .
ยท Patients with a history of CVA should be monitored closely.
